Did You Know?

A Bleed is simply extending an object, such as a picture, past the edge of the page.

Any object that is printed to the edge of a page MUST have a bleed.  For more information on bleeds, click here.

Be sure to add 1 inch to the height and 1 inch to the width when creating your PDF to allow for a bleed.

Submit your job as a PDF

Submitting your job as a PDF is easier than you may think.  In order to create a high resolution PDF for Action, follow these simple steps:

1.  Purchase Adobe Acrobat.  Although you may have the free Acrobat Reader, which allows you to view PDFs, you will need to purchase Adobe Acrobat to create PDFs.  Check out www.pcmall.com for the best deals on Acrobat.  If you purchase the new Acrobat 8, be sure to get the Professional version.

2.  Set up Distiller with the Action Job Options.  Acrobat Distiller is the software that comes with Adobe Acrobat.  Distiller allows native files such as Quark, PageMaker, InDesign, or even Microsoft Word to be converted to a PDF.  By loading the Action Job Options, you can create a high resolution PDF to our settings. You can get the job options file here.

3.  Convert your existing document to a PDF.  By following the step-by-step directions below, you can convert your existing document to a PDF quickly and easily.

Save your file as a PDF

*ALERT* To all Quark users - spot colorized

grayscale TIFFs saved into a PDF will print CMYK seperated.  This is a bug with Quark Xpress and currently has no quick fix.

The workaround - colorize your grayscale TIFFs

in Photoshop as a Monotone, Duotone, etc.

If this workaround is going to be too time consuming for your project, we suggest you send the working files instead of a pdf.  You may also contact Action Printing with questions regarding this issue.
